Mon, 5 December (MTNews): The Konyak Union organized a solem ‘Black Day’ program at its Headquarters Office in Mon on 5 December 2023, marking the tragic massacre of 14 civilians on 4 and 5 December 2021 at Oting village by the 21 Para SF. During the event, the Konyak Civil Society Organizations urged the central government to expedite the delivery of justice and to “wash away the blood stains on its hands.”
“The Konyak Civil Society Organization (CSO) had entrusted the justice system of our nation to deliver fitting justice to the victims and hold the perpetrators accountable under the law,” the KU stated in a press statement. Regrettably, the CSO lamented that justice has been delayed and unserved, and that the wounds inflicted upon innocent Konyak brothers shall remain unhealed.
“Until justice is served befittingly against the perpetrators, the Konyak community remains steadfast in its pursuit of closure and accountability,” the Konyak Union added.
The CSO also called upon the state government to demonstrate responsibility and accountability by actively pursuing this case for justice.
The program was chaired by Y Chingwang Wangsa, Vice President, KU. In a poignant gathering, speeches were delivered by Tingthok Konyak, President, KU, Ponglem Konyak, President, KNSK, and Yuwang, Vice President, KSU.
