PAC acts on CAG Audit: Questionnaires sent to Nagaland government departments

The Finance Department of the Government of Nagaland on June 3, 2024, issued a formal communication to the Commissioner & Secretary to the Governor, calling for a thorough investigation in response to the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India’s audit findings.

The CAG audit report, which reviewed sectors including Social, Economic, General, and Revenue for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2022, was presented in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) on September 14, 2023. Subsequently, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the NLA commenced an examination of the report’s findings.

On December 4, 2023, the PAC distributed detailed questionnaires based on the audit, forwarding them to concerned departments through the Finance Department.

On January 16, 2024, the Finance Department distributed questionnaires related to the CAG’s audit to administrative heads of various departments, including Municipal Affairs, Urban Development, Agriculture, Planning & Transformation, Civil Supplies, Home (Police Engineering Project) & (Village Guards), Works & Housing (R&B) & (Mechanical), Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairy Development, Finance (Treasuries & Accounts) & (Taxation), and Power.

Following the compilation and review of responses, the PAC intends to summon relevant departments for oral evidence, aiming to delve deeper into the issues highlighted by the audit.
