The Telangana–North East Connect Festival concluded with a panel discussion titled Spirit of the Game: Connecting Telangana and North East, featuring renowned sports personalities from the North East, including Bhaichung Bhutia, Mirabai Chanu and Laishram Sarita Devi. Moderated by journalist Pradip Phanjoubam, the discussion focused on strengthening sporting connections between Telangana and the North East.
Mirabai Chanu emphasized the need for women to break stereotypes and pursue their passion, encouraging young female athletes in Telangana to follow their dreams. Laishram Sarita Devi shared her journey from a small village to international recognition, highlighting her academy’s efforts to support underprivileged children in boxing.
Other panelists included Pullela Gopichand, Dronacharya Awardee from Telangana, and Mantu Debnath, Arjuna Awardee (Gymnastics) from Tripura, among others.
The three-day festival, held at Hitex Exhibition Centre in Telangana, showcased cultural events, literary sessions, film screenings and sports clinics conducted by North East sportspersons. The event also witnessed MoUs signed between Telangana and North East sports organizations to promote future collaboration and exchange.
