Chennai, 2 December (MTNews): “People in Chennai are more hospitable, and the city is safe for women. Even parents in the northeast are relieved about their girl children studying in Chennai,” said Governor of Tamil Nadu, RN Ravi on Nagaland Statehood Day and the eve of Assam state foundation day celebration at Raj Bhavan , which was organized by Raj Bhavan Chennai.

The governor also reminisced about his days as the governor of Nagaland and the association that Ruzazho, a village in Phek district in Nagaland, had with Subash Chandra Bose. “Close to 1,000 men from Ruzazho were part of INA and fought during the freedom struggle. The wooden plank on which Subash Chandra Bose slept in the village is still preserved,” the governor mentioned. “A hillock near the village is named after Subash Chandra Bose, and a lake in the village was named after the great freedom fighter. Naga people played a key role in India’s freedom struggle, but sadly they are not part of our curriculum,” he added.
