PDSA lauds district athletes for achievements at NWA championship

The Phek District Sports Association (PDSA) has congratulated athletes from the district for their performances at the 30th Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) Traditional Wrestling Championship-cum-1st Wrestling Festival held at Khuochiezie Ground.

In a press statement, PDSA President Nezosa Tetseo informed that Venuzo Dawhuo of Thenyizu village secured third position in the championship, while Venü Vadeo of Runguzu village finished fourth.

The association also congratulated Mudoto Dozo of Thuvopisu village for securing second position at the first U-15 NWA Championship, which was held alongside the main event. Kütho Puro of Porba village secured third position, while Chüre Pohena of Zhavame village finished fourth in the same category.

Meanwhile, the association appreciated Srhoneyi Soho from Phek village for becoming the first person from the Naga community to obtain an International Referee License in belt wrestling under United World Wrestling. He had also officiated at the International Alysh Belt Wrestling Championship held in Kyrgyzstan on April 28, 2024.

PDSA stated that the athletes’ achievements reflect dedication, discipline and commitment to the sport. It added that their success would inspire young sportspersons across the district. The association also congratulated the NWA for successfully organising the championship and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting and nurturing sporting talents in Phek district.
