Mokokchung, October 29 (MTNews): The final match of the ongoing first Peren District Football League (PDFL) 2022, organized by Peren District Football Association, is set to take place on Saturday at Jalukie ‘B’ village ground between Puiteing FC and Native Feathers for the Peren District Football Association (PDFA) cup title.

 

 

 

The league matches concluded last week, and Puiteing FC was crowned Peren District Football League (PDFL) champions. The league’s top four teams competed for the Peren District Football Association (PDFA) cup, with semifinals taking place on Friday.

 

Following the first semifinal match, a brief program was held to distribute the league champion’s prize. Puiteing FC won a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh as well as a trophy.
Puiteing FC defeated Lekie Mtei FC 2-0 in the first semi-final match to advance to the final.

 

Lekie Mtei FC dominated the first half of the game, but they wasted several chances created by the midfielders and failed to break through.

 

Paolenngam scored twice in the second half to put Puiteing FC ahead in the 73rd and 85th minutes, which was enough to seal the deal. Lekie Mtei FC fought back to equalize, but the mighty Puiteing FC made no mistake and prevented its opponent from scoring.

 

The first semifinal match was graced by ADC Peren, Keyirangding Hegui as the match patron.

 

Native Feathers FC defeated Barak FA 2-1 in the second semifinal match and secured their birth for final. In the first few minutes of the game, Barak FA pressed on the Native Feathers’ danger area, which paid off with Dihube’s boots in the 24th minute. The Native Feathers continued to search for an equalizer but were unsuccessful in the first half.

 

After a stoppage time, Native Feathers scored from behind in the 59th minute on a spot kick by Khiuwangbo Kaurintah. While both teams attempted to convert their chances, Khiuwangbo Kaurintah put Native Feathers ahead in the 75th minute with a long shot from zero angle, making the score 2-1. Barak FA was forced to concede defeat after failing to find an equalizer in the stipulated time.

 

The match patron for the second semi-final match was ADC Jalukie, T.L. Kiusumong Tikhir.
