A total of 1717 candidates from 10 States and Union Territories are set to contest elections in phase 4 of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 on 13 May. Across these regions, comprising 96 Parliamentary Constituencies, a total of 4264 nominations were filed. The deadline for filing nominations for phase 4 across all 10 States and UTs was 25 April. Following the scrutiny process, 1970 nominations were deemed valid. After withdrawal, final contesting candidates stand at 1717.
Telangana led in nomination submissions with 1488 forms filed across its 17 Parliamentary Constituencies, followed closely by Andhra Pradesh with 1103 nominations spanning 25 PCs. Among individual constituencies, 7-Malkajgiri in Telangana received the highest number of nominations at 177, followed by 13-Nalgonda and 14-Bhongir, both in the same State, each receiving 114 nominations. On average, there are 18 contesting candidates per Parliamentary Constituency for the 4th Phase.
States going to poll on 13 May
Andhra Pradesh (all 25 seats), Bihar (5 of the 40 seats), Jammu and Kashmir (Srinagar seat out of 5 seats), Madhya Pradesh (8 of the 29 seats), Jharkhand (4 of the 14 seats), Maharashtra (11 of 48 seats), Odisha (4 of the 21 seats), Uttar Pradesh (13 of the 80 seats), Telangana (all 17 seats), and West Bengal (9 of the 42 seats) are the states/UTs that will be going to the polls on 13 May.
The Lok Sabha elections of 2024 is being conducted across seven phases which started on 19 April, followed by subsequent phases on 26 April, 7 May, 13 May, 20 May, 25 May, and 1 June. Counting of votes will take place on 4 June for all 545 constituencies.
