PHED Mokokchung Division, along with the students and teachers of Green Hill School, Anganwadi workers, councils, and WATSAN committees of Yisemyong, celebrated Global Handwashing Day on the 15th of October 2024 under the theme, ‘Why are clean hands still important?’ This event was observed to promote the simple yet effective practice of handwashing with soap.
The program was chaired by Imsumongla, SO, PHED. Talimoa, Headmaster of Green Hill School, delivered the welcome address. District Coordinator Tsungrusungla Jamir spoke about the significance of handwashing and hand hygiene. Er Tekamayang, SDO, Mangkolemba, discussed clean drinking water, conservation, and the protection of water sources with the participants. IEC consultant Rongsentola demonstrated proper handwashing techniques, encouraging the Anganwadi workers and students to participate during the demonstration.
Later, handwash products were distributed to all participants, followed by light refreshments.
