The inauguration of the Legal Services Clinic (LSC) at Losami Village, Phek, was successfully held on 22nd July 2025 at 2:00 PM. This marks the fifth Legal Services Clinic under the Phek District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), following earlier inaugurations at Meluri, Pfutsero, District Jail Phek, and Chetheba.

The programme was chaired by Sekhotso Rokha, Retainer Lawyer, Phek DLSA. In his opening remarks, he welcomed all dignitaries and participants, highlighting the role of Legal Services Clinics in providing accessible and free legal aid to the public.

The programme commenced with an opening prayer by Neikhwewe Mekrisuh, Associate Pastor, Losami Baptist Church, seeking divine guidance and blessings for the initiative.

Zechete Mekrisuh, Village Council Chairman, Losami, delivered the welcome address and expressed appreciation for bringing this essential service to the village.

Mezivolu T. Therieh, NJS, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson, Phek DLSA, spoke on the concept of Legal Services Clinics. She compared legal clinics to medical clinics, explaining how the public can seek free legal assistance. She also cited Article 39A of the Constitution of India, underscoring the constitutional mandate to ensure justice for all, regardless of economic or social status.

Rhosietho Ngouri, NCS, Deputy Commissioner of Phek, congratulated Losami Village for hosting the clinic and shared insights on the relevance of Customary Laws and customary courts in the local justice system. He stressed the importance of LSCs in enhancing rural access to justice.

Delivering the inaugural address, Neiko Akami, NJS, Member Secretary, Nagaland Legal Services Authority, highlighted various Government of India legal aid schemes. He outlined the procedures for availing legal aid, including affidavits, declarations, and income certificates, and reaffirmed the commitment to protect vulnerable groups, especially senior citizens.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from the Chair, Mr. Rokha, who encouraged the public to utilise the Legal Services Clinic for any legal assistance.
