The two-day Games and Sports Meet of Government High School (GHS) Chesezü began with enthusiasm, with Assistant Headmaster (AHM) Vekhole Rhakho declaring it open at the local ground in Chesezü village, Phek district.
In his speech, Rhakho emphasized the importance of agility, stamina, and strength in a sportsperson’s life. He stressed that consistency and determination are key to success, with no shortcuts. He also highlighted the role of fitness in education, stating that learning extends beyond classrooms and encouraging students to balance academics and sports.
Promoting inclusivity, the school organized a special 20-meter race for differently-abled student Besuvolü, the lone participant, who showed remarkable determination. In recognition of her resilience, she was honored with a special prize, presented by Rhakho.

The first day saw intense competition in wrestling, with winners Khruto (under 40 kg), Uzhove (40-50 kg), Anuzuzo (51-60 kg), and Ruveto (below 70 kg). Thujoseyi won the feet jump event. In women’s arm wrestling, Nukuvolü (30-40 kg), Apiyo (41-50 kg), and Zaletalu (under 70 kg) emerged victorious.
The school stated that the finals for track and field events and other games will take place on March 22.
