Phek Government College held its 44th Freshers’ Meet at Deo Nukhu Hall on August 7, with Deputy Commissioner Phek, Shri Rhosietho Nguori, NCS, as the guest of honour.

The programme began with an invocation by Seyielenuo Nisa, Assistant Professor, Department of History, followed by a welcome address by Associate Professor Vevolu Khamo, Department of Education.
The programme also featured felicitation of meritorious students. The L. Mefutiba Award, instituted in 2018 by the then Principal of the college, L. Mefutiba, carries a cash prize of Rs 5,000 and is awarded to the BA/BSc final-year student securing the highest CGPA in Nagaland University examinations. Vemutulu Vero of the Department of Political Science received the award with a CGPA of 8.03.
The Department of Education’s Meritorious Award for the highest CGPA in Education was presented to Veduvolu Khamo, who secured 6.85.
Addressing the freshers, Nguori described “choice” as an important tool in life and urged students to take responsibility for their decisions. “The choices we make today will have consequences tomorrow,” he said, encouraging them to choose wisely and work towards success.
The event was attended by students, faculty and staff.
