The Phek Wrestling Association (PWA) today honored and felicitated its two wrestlers, Kuluvezo Soho and Nubasa Rhakho, in a brief ceremony held at Phek Village Panchayat Hall. The duo won gold medals in the recently concluded All India Traditional Wrestling & Pankration Federation (AITWPF) 12th National Traditional Wrestling Championship 2024, which took place in Dehradun from October 3 to 6.

According to a press note issued by PWA President R. Bibi Soho, the ceremony was held in honor of Kuluvezo Soho, who won gold in the senior category under 71 kg, and was also selected to represent India in the forthcoming Asian Alysh Belt Wrestling Championship, likely to be held in Kohima in either November 2024 or February 2025. Nubasa Rhakho won gold in the cadet category under 73 kg.
While honoring the two wrestlers, the PWA also acknowledged and felicitated Surhoneyi Soho for obtaining an International Referee License in UWW Alysh Belt Wrestling and Kuzhovesa Soho for being inducted as the Joint Secretary of the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) for the 2024-2028 tenure.
The event featured felicitation speeches from VCC Phek Village’s Chivozo Soho, International Referee Surhoneyi Soho, and NWA Joint Secretary Kuzhovesa Soho.
The PWA expressed its gratitude to MLA and Leader of the NPF Legislature Party, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, for providing financial support for the ceremony, and to the Phek Village Council for extending logistical support.
A blessing and felicitation ceremony was conducted by CWA’s first champion, Pudusa Chizo, while PWA President R. Bibi Soho delivered a congratulatory note.
The function was chaired by PWA General Secretary Surhovezo Venuh, with the opening prayer led by Pastor Nuchicho Venuh. The welcome note was delivered by PWA Joint Secretary Chivoyo Keyho, and the closing prayer was offered by Pastor CRC, Phek Village, Chiraneyi, followed by a celebratory feast.
