Phek Wrestling Association to hold 47th Annual Meet on December 16

Competitions across three categories including inaugural U-15 edition

The Phek Wrestling Association (PWA) will hold its 47th Wrestling Meet and 1st U-15 Edition 2025 on December 16 at Phek village.

MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu will be the special guest, while Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) president Vezuhii Keyho will act as lead discussant.

The inaugural ceremony, starting at 8:30 AM, will be led by PWA finance secretary Dzuthoyi Hoshi, and PWA president R Bibi Soho will deliver the presidential address.

PWA technical secretary Veta Soho will administer the oath to the wrestlers.

The event will feature three categories: A Team, B Team, and Under 15.

Prize sponsors for the A Team category include: Dr K Hoshi, ex-candidate 19th Phek A/C (1st prize – Rs. 40,000); Zhokupa Hoshi, Assistant Programme Officer, DoSE, Kohima, Nagaland (2nd prize – Rs. 25,000); Shepalu Venuh, Vice Principal, Phek Government College (3rd prize – Rs. 15,000); and Rukuto Venuh, VCM Phek Village (4th prize – Rs. 10,000).

Prize sponsors for the B Team category are: Kuveduyi Venuh, EBRC Coordinator, Phek Block (1st prize – Rs. 10,000); Veshe Chizo, President PCF (2nd prize – Rs. 7,000); Kukhotso Keyho, GT/GMS Phek Basa (3rd prize – Rs. 5,000); and Hiivekholu Keyho, Women VDB Secretary, Phek Village (4th prize – Rs. 3,000).

The Under 15 category prizes include: Lavoto Chizo, NPF President 19th A/C Phek (1st prize – Rs. 15,000); Kupoyi Hoshi, PIS, DIS Mon (2nd prize – Rs. 10,000); and Er. Vekhochiyi Rhakho, JE, PWD (NH), Phek Division (3rd prize – Rs. 8,000 and 4th prize – Rs. 6,000).

Surhoneyi Soho, holder of an international wrestling referee license (UWW), will be the chief referee.
