The Phekmi Welfare Union Kohima (PWUK) on Saturday held its general session cum 28th year celebration at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, with MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu as the speaker.

Addressing the gathering, Azo called upon the people to maintain a spirit of oneness as one family. “We are one family,” he said, urging the gathering to love and support one another for the sake of future generations.

He also called upon the people to commit themselves to the Lord and put God first in everything they do. Azo further encouraged the gathering to stand by the truth, even if it meant standing alone.

Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) president Veziihii Keyho and Phek Village Council chairman Chivozo Soho also exhorted the gathering.

PWUK president Siirhoneyi Soho informed that there are presently 451 registered members under PWUK.

The PWUK also felicitated candidates who were successful in the NPSC examinations and students who achieved outstanding results during the 2024–25 academic year.

For the 2026–27 tenure, Shevoduyi Venuh and Rukulu Chizo were announced as the new president and general secretary of the PWUK, respectively, among others.

The programme was chaired by Kuvehii Soho, while the act of blessing for the new office bearers was pronounced by Rev Velavoyi Keyho, Pastor of Phezoucha Nagamese Baptist Church.
