The Phom Language Promotion and Translation Cell, Yingli College, organised a Phom Folk Song and Recitation Competition at Borgohain Hall on October 22, 2025.
The event was conducted in both Phom and English, featuring discussions on Phom language and history, along with folk song and recitation performances. The initiative aims to use creative methods to promote the Phom language and cultural heritage in a broader context in the coming days.
Delivering the welcome address, Dr. B. Henshet Phom, Vice Principal of Yingli College, presented a brief introduction to Bü Ashu. The program was chaired by Tonghon, Assistant Professor in the Department of English, Yingli College. The invocation was proposed by Konjem, Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, Yingli College, and a special song was presented by Dennyi Lakpan and Ayung B. Phom.
The judges for the folk competition were Konchem and Phenmei. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Manngai H. Phom, Assistant Professor in the Department of English, Yingli College.
