Mokokchung, 26 November (MTNews): The National Medical Commission (NMC) has introduced new guidelines that open up doors for students who opted for the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) stream in Class 11 and 12 to pursue a career in medicine.

Under the latest NMC rule, PCM students now have the opportunity to clear the biology/biotechnology examination as an additional subject at the 10+2 level from any recognized board. This means that despite not having biology as a primary subject, PCM students can still aspire to become doctors.

The rule specifies that students who studied physics, chemistry, biology, or biotechnology along with English, even as an additional subject after completing class 12 from duly recognized boards, will be eligible to appear in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET-UG).

The decision will apply even to those students whose applications were previously rejected, NMC added.
