Mokokchung, 17 September (MTNews): A 3-day seminar on Commercial Piggery Farming was conducted at Symbiotic Foods Pvt. Ltd., Tezpur, Assam, from 13 to 15 September. The seminar was organized by the Chief Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Office, Mokokchung, and sponsored by Kohima Ao Officertem Telongjem (KAOT) under the theme “Survival Mokokchung.”
A total of 13 piggery farmers from Mokokchung District, along with Dr Nemjemyanger and Dr Toshiwati, attended the seminar. During the seminar, the farmers were educated on various aspects of commercial piggery farming, including the value chain, where they learned the importance of developing an efficient value chain to transform the piggery sector into an industry. They also received instruction on piggery market dynamics, housing, pig breeding and fattening, feed management, bio-security, and animal health.
On the third day of the seminar, the team visited the pig farm and food processing unit of Symbiotic Foods Pvt. Ltd. Here, they were exposed to practical aspects of commercial Piggery Farming.
The 13 piggery farmers expressed their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Kohima Ao Officertem Telongjem (KAOT) and the Chief Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Office, Mokokchung, for their genuine concern and initiative in uplifting the local pig farmers of Mokokchung District.
