Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Dimapur airport on Thursday where he briefly halted before making his way to Diphu in Karbi Anglong District, to address the ‘Peace, Unity and Development Rally’ and lay the foundation of several educational and development projects worth over Rs 500 crore.
Modi was received by CM Neiphiu Rio, Nagaland Cabinet Ministers and senior BJP leaders of the state upon his arrival.
Before leaving for Diphu by chopper, Modi held a brief meeting with Rio and other legislators including senior BJP party workers at the airport.
In a tweet Modi said “Earlier today, while on the way to the programme in Karbi Anglong, was in Dimapur (Nagaland) where I met CM @Neiphiu_Rio, Ministers of Nagaland and @BJP4Nagaland leaders. We are committed to fulfilling the dreams and aspirations of the people of Nagaland.”
CM Rio also took to twitter to express his contentment.
He tweeted, “A great pleasure to receive and interact with the Hon’ble @PMOIndia Shri @narendramodi ji on his arrival at Dimapur Airport @aaidmuairport, along with my colleagues. My best wishes to him and congratulations to the people of Assam as he launches several development projects today.”
Later in the day in Dibrugarh, the PM dedicated seven cancer care hospitals, including the Dibrugarh Cancer Centre in Upper Assam, as part of the Assam Cancer Care Foundation project.
The development has come as one of the biggest boosts to cancer care in the Northeastern region, which has been lagging behind most states when it comes to health infrastructure.
