Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma (PMV) onboarding program was held at DPDB Hall DC office, Chumoukedima on 17 October 2024.
Advisor Industries & Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu highlighted the aims and objectives of the scheme and urged public leaders of three districts Dimapur, Chumoukedima and Niuland to come forward with genuine beneficiaries. Jakhalu also mentioned that she is personally monitoring the scheme especially in three districts and reminded the leaders that the concern department has already arranged marketing places for the finished products.
PMV is a central sector scheme that was launched by Prime Minister on 17th September 2023 to provide end-to-end support to artisans and crafts peoples who work with their hands and tools. The aims of this scheme are to provide comprehensive support including training, technology, credit and marketing access to enhance their skills and livelihood.
The scheme covers artisans and crafts people engaged in 18 trades such as: Carpenter, Boat maker, Armourer, Blacksmith, Hammer and tool kit maker, Locksmith, Sculpture (Idol, stone craver, stone breaker), Goldsmith, Potter, Cobbler, Masons, Basket/mat/broom/ coir weaver, Doll and toy maker, Barber, Garland maker, washerman, tailor and Fishing net maker.
Earlier, Director Industry & Commerce, Tokugha Achumi presented the keynote address while Vithule Krichena, Consultant PM Vishwakarma gave a presentation on PMV scheme.
