Yeptho highlighted that their support for the NDPP candidate has been granted with the full approval and blessings of their Central leadership, including Prime Minister Modi and National BJP President JP Nadda, as a means to honor their alliance partnership with the NDPP.

Additionally, Yeptho provided a brief history of the NDPP-BJP alliance, stating that it was established on February 3, 2018, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and the then BJP National President Amit Shah. He recalled that, in preparation for the 2018 State Assembly Election, both parties agreed on a seat-sharing arrangement, with the NDPP contesting in 40 seats and the BJP in 20. The election campaign, featuring Prime Minister Modi, was launched on February 22, 2018, in Tuensang. The pre-poll alliance secured the people’s mandate and established a popular government known as the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) on March 8, 2018.

Furthermore, Yeptho emphasized that the PDA Government, led by Chief Minister Rio and Deputy Chief Minister Patton, has provided stable governance in Nagaland and accelerated comprehensive development with strong support from the Central Government under Prime Minister Modi. He expressed pride in the growth of the pre-poll BJP-NDPP alliance, highlighting their continued popular support, evident in their victories in various bye-elections, as well as in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha elections. He credited these achievements to the collective efforts of both parties.

“On July 26, 2022, the leadership of both parties, led by BJP National President JP Nadda and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, mutually agreed to continue the pre-poll alliance with the same seat-sharing arrangement, with 40 seats allocated to NDPP and 20 to BJP. This continued alliance and seat-sharing formula reflect their unwavering commitment to providing good governance to the people of Nagaland,” he further added.
