As part of Phase-I of the ‘Women for Trees’ campaign, launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs under the AMRUT Mitra initiative, a pre-site visit was conducted by the District Urban Development Agency, Mokokchung, in collaboration with the AYANU Self Help Group (SHG) on 21st May 2025 at Kathing Park, Mokokchung.
The purpose of the visit was to assess the suitability of the proposed location for a tree plantation, focusing on evaluating the site’s condition, feasibility, and preparedness for the activity. The AYANU SHG displayed strong interest and enthusiasm for the initiative. During the visit, members actively participated in planning discussions, emphasized the value of green spaces, and pledged to take responsibility for the care and maintenance of the saplings post-plantation.
A total of nine members from the SHG were present and fully engaged in the review process. Phase-II, the plantation drive, will commence from June 5 to August 3, 2025.
