The fixtures for the 2024-25 Premier League season were announced on Tuesday, June 18. The campaign will kick off on August 16, with 20 teams embarking on their respective quests for glory.

Champions Manchester City will face Chelsea in the opening weekend’s highlight match, pitting Pep Guardiola against Enzo Maresca. Meanwhile, Arne Slot’s first Liverpool game will be an away fixture against newly promoted Ipswich Town. Arsenal will start their season at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Manchester City, fresh off their fourth title win in May, will be seeking their fifth consecutive championship. Their clash with Chelsea on Sunday, August 18, promises to be a heavyweight showdown. Last season, these teams produced thrilling encounters in both the FA Cup semifinal and the Premier League, with matches ending in 4-4 and 2-2 draws. Maresca’s reunion with Guardiola adds an extra layer of intrigue.

Liverpool’s new era under Arne Slot will begin with an away game at Ipswich Town, marking Slot’s first Premier League match since taking over from Jurgen Klopp. This early kickoff on Saturday, August 17, also signifies Ipswich Town’s return to the Premier League after more than two decades.

The season will officially commence on Friday, August 16, with Manchester United hosting Fulham at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag, entering his third season with United, managed to keep his job after winning the FA Cup against Manchester City despite a challenging 2023-24 season. United will also face City in the FA Community Shield before the Premier League season begins.

The opening weekend will conclude on Monday evening with Tottenham Hotspur facing newly promoted Leicester City. Spurs finished fifth last season, while Leicester secured the Championship title.

These fixtures set the stage for an exciting Premier League season as teams prepare to compete at the highest level.
