Dimapur, 22 July (MTNews): Nagaland Minister of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Jacob Zhimomi, has announced that preparations are currently underway for the creation of a Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT). However, he refrained from providing any further details about the ongoing process. The announcement came during a recent interaction with NE Live.
“We are currently in the process of making preparations, and the government will share the relevant information with the public once we are fully prepared,” Minister Zhimomi told the news channel.
Zhimomi also highlighted the importance of making a collective decision regarding ENPO’s proposal to include the Eastern Sumis in the Frontier Naga Territory. He stressed the need to address the issue cautiously to avoid any potential disintegration of the Eastern Sumis from the ENPO.
“We have discussed the matter, and these are issues that must be handled collectively. It is crucial that we address these concerns without causing any fragmentation among the Eastern Sumis and the ENPO,” Zhimomi explained.
Reportedly, the Centre has offered the formation of Frontier Naga Territory with legislative, executive, administration, and financial autonomy to the ENPO. Meanwhile, it may be recalled that ENPO has made a significant decision to include the Sumis of Kiphire and Shamator districts in its movement demanding the creation of a Frontier Naga Territory as was resolved during an executive meeting of the ENPO on 30 June in Dimapur.
