On the eve of the 77th Independence Day, President Droupadi Murmu delivered an address to the nation praising India’s enduring resilience amid challenging times and its role as a beacon of hope for others. Highlighting the nation’s advancements, she mentioned India’s conversion of challenges into opportunities, leading to robust GDP growth. She noted India’s leadership in the G-20 and advancements in education and science, citing the National Education Policy 2020 and the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3.

The President went on to urge the citizens to give priority to women empowerment, and said that it is necessary to make efforts at the local, national and global levels for the environment.

 

She also appealed to the tribal community to enrich their traditions while embracing modernity.

 

“There are specific programs to improve the conditions of tribals and encourage them to join the journey of progress. I appeal to our tribal brothers and sisters to enrich their traditions while embracing modernity,” she said.
“Farmers have contributed significantly to our economic growth, and the nation feels indebted to them,” she added.

 

“Inflation at the global level remains a cause for worry. But in India, the government and the Reserve Bank have managed to contain it. The government has succeeded in protecting the common people from high inflation while also providing a more extensive security cover to the poor. The world looks up to India for global economic growth,” she said.
