Prof. Ambrish Singh from Nagaland University Leaves Mark on Chemistry Education in Kazakhstan

Prof. Ambrish Singh, from the Department of Chemistry at Nagaland University, served as a Visiting Professor at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty, Kazakhstan, during June 1 to 30, 2024. He actively engaged with PhD and master’s students through lectures and seminars, significantly enhancing their educational experience and expanding their knowledge in Chemistry.

Professor Singh delivered thought-provoking lectures to PhD students, encompassing advanced subjects spanning Applied Chemistry, colloid chemistry, analytical chemistry, electroanalytical chemistry, computational chemistry, and electrochemistry. His extensive knowledge left a lasting impression on the students, significantly enhancing their intellectual growth and research capabilities.

For master’s students, Prof. Singh conducted seminars that fostered interactive discussions and facilitated the exchange of knowledge on current research trends. These sessions aimed at enhancing critical thinking and strengthening their grasp of fundamental Chemistry concepts. During his tenure, Prof. Singh also presented an international seminar that attracted audiences from neighboring universities and the National University of Uzbekistan in Tashkent. His lecture emphasized the esteemed academic culture and contributions of Nagaland University.

Following his seminar, Prof. Singh visited the National University of Uzbekistan where he explored opportunities for collaborations and joint projects. He engaged with scientists and staff, further promoting academic exchanges between institutions.

Back at Al-Farabi University, Prof. Singh played a pivotal role in establishing an electrochemical lab for applied and analytical Chemistry students, enriching their practical learning experience.

Prof. Singh’s impact extended beyond lectures and seminars, in that he provided valuable guidance to PhD students on their ongoing research, advised on research paper modifications, patent applications, and project developments. His collaborative spirit was evident in brainstorming sessions with faculty members aimed at initiating joint projects. His efforts were highly appreciated by his peers and students.

Beyond academic pursuits, Prof. Singh explored cultural landmarks in Almaty, including Kok Tobe, Shymbulak Mountains, and the Green Bazaar. The Dean, Prof. Alina, expressed gratitude for Prof. Singh’s enthusiastic contributions and proposed continued collaboration, including online classes to sustain academic exchange. Prof. Singh’s interactive teaching style received positive feedback from both PhD and master’s students, fostering an environment conducive to learning and growth. In recognition of his impactful visit, Al-Farabi University presented him with souvenirs as a token of appreciation.

The Head of Chemistry Department, Prof. Akmaral, along with PhD students and Dr. Akbar, extended warm wishes to Prof. Singh, expressing gratitude for his mentorship and contributions to their development as aspiring chemists and researchers. They eagerly anticipated future collaborations in chemistry education. Prof. Ambrish Singh’s tenure as Visiting Professor at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was marked by scholarly achievements, cultural exploration, and lasting collaborations, underscoring his profound impact on academic and research communities across borders.

Prof. J.K. Patnaik, the Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, while commending Prof. Ambrish, for the achievement, pointed out that one of the key areas which NEP-2020 emphasizes is the internationalization of India’s higher education system. Through this endeavour, Prof. Ambrish has not only contributed to the host University’s intellectual and research efforts but has also achieved the goal of international projection for Nagaland University.
