Prof Ambrish Singh from Nagaland University’s Department of Chemistry has been selected as a “Foreign Expert” under an esteemed international foreign expert recruitment project by China. He will join the University of Science and Technology, Beijing (USTB) in 2025. This prestigious appointment underscores Prof. Singh’s exceptional expertise and contributions to his field, while also highlighting the caliber of talent emerging from Nagaland.

With the potential for joint research ventures and academic exchange programs, this engagement is expected to create further opportunities for students and faculty to collaborate and innovate, according to an update from the University. During his tenure at USTB, Prof Singh will focus on developing and analyzing corrosion inhibitors in the field of materials science, particularly for the oil and petroleum industries.

As part of the recruitment project, which is backed by the Government of China, all travel, accommodation, living expenses, and expert fees for Prof. Singh will be fully covered. This generous support reflects China’s commitment to fostering global academic exchanges and strengthening international partnerships in higher education.

According to NU PRO Peter Ki, this is not the first time Prof. Singh has been engaged by a foreign university. From June 1–30, 2024, he served as a Visiting Professor at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty, Kazakhstan. There, he delivered lectures and conducted seminars for PhD and master’s students, significantly enhancing their educational experience and expanding their knowledge in chemistry.
