Phek Village, December 12: Mhaluto Keyho of the BS team emerged as the fastest man at the 2024 Phek Sports Association (PSA) meet, winning the gold in the 100-meter dash with a record time of 12.17 seconds on Day 1.
The opening day also saw the conclusion of both the men’s and women’s track and field events, followed by the start of the games events.
Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA and Leader of the NPF Legislature Party, graced the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest. In his address to the contingents, Nienu urged the youth to focus on professionalism and emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency to achieve their goals and aspirations. He also encouraged the athletes to uphold the core values of sports, including fearing God, discipline, punctuality, and consistency, in order to become professionals in their chosen disciplines.
In his presidential address, PSA President Akuve Soho highlighted the significance of maintaining a genuine competitive spirit in sports and urged members to strive for greater achievements. Greetings were shared by Chivozo Soho, VCC of Phek Village, while Kuluvezo Soho, Games & Sports Secretary, administered the oath to the participating teams.
As of Day 1, the MC Team leads the medal tally with 9 medals, including 6 golds, 1 silver, and 2 bronzes.
A total of 8 teams, with 500 registered participants, are competing for various titles across multiple disciplines. The meet will conclude on December 18, 2024, with Shevozo Nienu, Assistant District Education Officer, Phek, as the Valedictory Guest.
