The Public Forum Pungro Sub-Division (PFPSD) has expressed serious concern over the recent transfer of Paogougin Khongsai, Field Officer at the State Bank of India (SBI) Pungro Branch, without the posting of a reliever.
Khongsai was posted to the branch in August 2025. Following his arrival, banking services improved significantly, customer grievances were addressed efficiently, pending work was cleared, and overall operations became smooth and responsive. His presence provided much-needed relief to the people of this remote sub-division, who rely heavily on the branch for essential financial services.
However, his sudden transfer on 24th November 2025, without a reliever, has caused disruption in day-to-day banking operations. Residents of Pungro Sub-Division have reportedly faced considerable hardship, including interrupted services, delayed transactions, and a growing backlog of unresolved customer complaints. The branch’s remote location and limited manpower have further compounded the difficulties.
The PFPSD has urged the higher authorities of SBI to immediately reconsider the transfer or ensure the urgent posting of a competent reliever to restore uninterrupted services. The forum warned that further delays could compel the public to escalate democratic protests, with the authorities held responsible for any such actions.
The Public Forum expressed confidence that the concerned authorities will act promptly in the larger public interest and address the grievances of the people at the earliest.
