Mokokchung, 23 August (MTNews): In an effort to inspect and assess the progress of ongoing road projects, the Department of Public Works Department (PWD) for National Highways embarked on a site inspection tour covering NH 02 and NH 702D.
Leading the tour are Chief Engineer Er I Tiameren and Superintendent Engineer (Circle I) Er Aroba, accompanied by Executive Engineer Er Lima and his team, including Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs), Junior Engineers (JEs), and others.
On the purpose of the on-site inspection (starting from the zero point at 156 km), Chief Engineer Er I Tiameren stated that this marks his first tour since assuming the office of Chief Engineer. He mentioned that the tour commenced in Kohima to comprehensively assess the coverage of National Highways in Nagaland. Additionally, he emphasized that the monsoon season is the ideal time for on-site visits, facilitating a clear assessment of rain-induced damage.
Providing details about the project sites, the Chief Engineer highlighted that the inspection spans from the zero point (185 km – 220 km) NH 02. Furthermore, he noted the examination of another completed project, which, if necessary, will undergo immediate rectification and receive further instructions and directives. The team also inspected the JKM lab to ensure the proper installation of tools and equipment and conducted on-the-spot tests.
Subsequently, the Chief Engineer announced that the team will proceed to NH 702D (Mokokchung-Mariani road), a vital lifeline for several districts. Regarding this road, the Chief Engineer shared that survey work will be conducted soon by the Project Management Consultancy (PMC), for which the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has already issued an offering letter. The department is also extending full cooperation to the consultancy to expedite their works, he further added.
