Mokokchung, 17 October (MTNews): In response to the news article titled ‘Chief Engineer PWD Invites Bids for PMGSY-III Projects Following Nagaland Contractors’ Demand,’ published in this newspaper on 14 October 2023, the Nagaland Public Works Department, Roads and Bridges (NPWD R&B), has clarified that the retendering of the five packages under PMGSY-III was not prompted by the demands of the Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers Union.
It may be recalled that the newspaper article published on 14 October, 2023 reported as: “Following the recent demand made by the Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) that 40 packages under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-III) be distributed as “one firm, one package,” the Chief Engineer, Public Works Department (R&B), and Empowered Officer of the NGRRDA Nagaland have taken a significant step. They have now invited tender applications for a portion of these packages, specifically five, under PMGSY-III Batch – I for the fiscal year 2023-24.”
To this, the department clarified that there are “no significant steps or development in the ongoing discussions and actions surrounding the distribution of the said packages” and added that “the retender was done specifically on the basis of PMGSY guidelines.”
