Quality education in the primary level is crucial for the overall development of a child. It is during the primary years that a child’s cognitive, social, and emotional development takes place, and a strong foundation in these areas is essential for success in later life. Primary level quality education not only prepares children for higher education but also provides them with the skills and knowledge needed for a fulfilling life.
The first few years of a child’s life are critical for their development, and research shows that quality education during this period can have a significant impact on their academic achievement, socio-economic status, and overall well-being. A child who receives quality education in the primary level is more likely to be successful in higher education and have better employment opportunities in the future.
Moreover, quality education in the primary level provides children with the essential skills they need to navigate the challenges of life. These skills include critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration, which are essential for success in both personal and professional life. Children who receive quality education in the primary level are better equipped to make informed decisions, communicate effectively with others, and navigate complex social situations.
Quality education, especially in the primary level, also plays a crucial role in promoting social and economic development. Children who receive quality education are more likely to be engaged citizens who contribute to the development of their communities. They are also more likely to be economically productive and contribute to the growth of the state’s economy.
The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) representation to the Principal Director of DoSE against transfer and posting of teachers from “Eastern districts to Non-Eastern districts” is a genuine issue. The quality of education in the eastern districts, particularly in the primary level, must be adequately addressed and improved if Nagaland is to progress. It will require a multi-pronged and sustained effort to improve the quality of education in the primary level there. Unfortunately, the Government of Nagaland has miserably failed in this respect over the years.
There are reports of teachers being “transferred with post” from Mokokchung in the past. It is safe to assume that this has happened or is happening in the eastern districts too. Such disgraceful and selfish persons must be exposed, shamed and punished.
Coming back to the importance of quality education at primary level, it must be said that it is essential for the overall development of a child. It prepares them for higher education, provides them with essential life skills, and promotes social and economic development. The government, policymakers, and educators must prioritize quality education in the primary level and ensure that all children have access to it. Investing in quality education in the primary level is not just an investment in the future of the children but also an investment in the future of the state.
