Mokokchung, 27 July (MTNews): Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi delivered a passionate address today to the Indian Youth Congress convention ‘Behtar Bharat Ki Buniyaad’ via live video lecture from Kerala, urging the youth of the nation to rise against injustice and empathize with the people of Manipur who have been suffering from violence for the last three months.

“If you cannot feel the pain and hurt of the people of Manipur, you cannot lead the Congress,” he said.

He drew a stark contrast between the ideologies of the Congress and that of the RSS and BJP, stating that the latter wants a select few to control and benefit from the country’s resources, including its wealth and institutions like the judiciary, bureaucracy, Election Commission, and educational establishments.

“The Congress party seeks unity, harmony, and inclusivity,” asserted Gandhi, adding that every citizen of the country should feel secure and valued. He criticized the current government for neglecting the plight of Manipur and highlighted the Prime Minister’s silence on the violence in the state, attributing it to his alignment with an ideology that has instigated unrest.

Gandhi further criticized the Prime Minister for not visiting Manipur during its time of crisis, pointing out that past Congress leaders would have shown solidarity and support by camping in the affected area. He accused the current PM of serving the interests of only a select few, primarily those affiliated with the RSS and BJP.

Turning his attention to the youth volunteers gathered at the convention from various parts of the country, the senior Congress leader urged them to empathize with the people of Manipur and stand in solidarity with them. Even if they cannot physically be present in the region, Gandhi encouraged them to share the pain and suffering of the Manipuri people and extend their support from wherever they are.
