Rain, thunderstorms expected across Nagaland till September 2

The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued a weather outlook for all districts from August 31 to September 2, warning of thunderstorms, lightning and varying intensity of rainfall across the state.

On August 31, moderate to heavy rain is likely in Meluri, Niuland and Wokha, while Longleng and Shamator have no active warning. Other districts are expected to experience scattered light to moderate or light rain.

For September 1, moderate to heavy rain is likely in Chümoukedima, Kiphire, Meluri, Mokokchung, Niuland, Noklak and Wokha. Other districts may receive scattered light to moderate rain.

On September 2, thunderstorm and lightning risk has been forecast for Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Peren, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto. Niuland has no active warning, while other districts are likely to receive light to moderate or scattered rain.

NSDMA advised the public to monitor updates through the Safer Nagaland mobile application and NSDMA Weather Portal and follow official advisories. Motorists have been urged to exercise caution, particularly along vulnerable and landslide-prone stretches.
