Vidarbha continued to dominate the opening fixture of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 against Nagaland at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground 1, Bengaluru, with the minnows trailing by 382 runs at stumps on Day 2.

Batting first, Vidarbha posted a commanding total of 463, anchored by Aman Mokhade’s fluent 183. Dhruv Shorey contributed 64, while Yash Rathod added 71. Chetan Bist’s glove work was notable behind the stumps, taking multiple catches, including dismissals of Atharva Taide (18) and Samarth R (3). The Vidarbha innings concluded with Jonathan Rongsen (captain) claiming four wickets to support Nagaland’s fightback.

Nagaland began their innings on a rather disappointing note. Sedezhalie Rupero fell for six, while Yugandhar Singh was trapped lbw for 11. Captain Rongsen Jonathan managed just four runs before Praful Hinge struck. Chetan Bist remained at the crease on 26, with Dega Nischal contributing 32. Other batsmen, including Ronit More, Imliwati Lemtur, Tahmeed Rahman, Dip Borah, Tohuka Zhimo, and Saurav S Kumar, are yet to bat.

Earlier in the first innings, Nagaland’s bowlers showed resilience, with Jonathan R taking four wickets, Saurav S Kumar three, and Tahmeed Rahman, Ronit More, and Dip Borah chipping in with one each. Despite the effort, Vidarbha holds a firm grip on the match heading into Day 3.
