Uttar Pradesh made a commanding start to their Ranji Trophy encounter against Nagaland at Green Park, Kanpur, finishing the opening day at 301 for 1 in 90 overs after electing to bat first.
Openers Abhishek Goswami and Madhav Kaushik provided a solid foundation, putting on a century stand for the first wicket. Goswami scored 55 from 100 balls before being bowled by Imliwati Lemtur, giving Nagaland their only breakthrough of the day. Kaushik remained unbeaten on 120, while Aryan Juyal added to the dominance with an equally impressive 118 not out.
Nagaland’s bowlers worked hard throughout the day but struggled to find success. Ronit More bowled 15 overs, Saurav Kumar 10, Vino Zhimomi 23, Imliwati Lemtur 22, and skipper Rongsen Jonathan 20 overs as Uttar Pradesh maintained control of the proceedings.
