Jharkhand registered a commanding innings and 196-run win over Nagaland in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group A match on Tuesday, with left-arm spinner Anukul Roy producing a career-best match haul of 13 wickets to seal the win.
A day after taking a career-best 8 for 55 to bowl out Nagaland for 154 in reply to Jharkhand’s 510 for 8 declared, Roy continued his dominance in the second innings, claiming 5 for 35 as Jharkhand wrapped up the contest with a bonus point.
Nagaland, who were forced to follow on and ended day three at 104 for 5, offered little resistance on the final morning. Roy and fellow left-arm spinner Manishi shared all ten wickets, as Nagaland managed just 56 additional runs to be bowled out for 160 in 57.4 overs. Manishi, who took one wicket in the first innings, finished with 4 for 62 in the second to complete match figures of 5 for 103.
Nagaland’s resistance, seen in their previous game against Tamil Nadu, where Dega Nischal and Imliwati Lemtur scored centuries to secure a draw, was absent in this match. Opener Nischal scored 41 in the first innings but managed only two runs in the second. Skipper Rongsen Jonathan top-scored in the second innings with a gritty 50, but no other batter could stand up to the formidable spin duo.
Nagaland’s next match is against Uttar Pradesh which begins on November 8.
