Dimapur, December 20 (MTNews): The 2nd home match of the Ranji Trophy for Nagaland kicked off today at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima against Uttar Pradesh. On winning the toss, Nagaland elected to field.

 

 

Uttar Pradesh, after having lost the toss and asked to bat first, had a good start with an opening partnership of 247 runs. Both the openers Madhav Kaushik and Dhruv Chand Jurel (Wk) scored a century each. However, the former was dismissed by Jonathan Rongsen while he was on 107 runs, a brilliant catch by Joshua at short leg. Shortly, the wickets of Priyam Garg and Karan Sharma (C) followed soon as they were dismissed cheaply on 10 runs and 14 runs respectively by Jonathan.

 

For Nagaland, Jonathan Rongsen picked all 3 wickets.
At stumps on Day-1, Uttar Pradesh were 400/3 (90 overs) with Dhruv Chand Jurel (194 runs) and Rinku Singh (58 runs) at the crease.
