Kohima, 12 October (MTNews): In a thrilling encounter at the IG Stadium, Red Scars FC emerged victorious over United FC Piphema with a scoreline of 3-1 during the second semifinal of the ongoing 23rd NSF Marty’s Memorial Trophy, played on Thursday. Their next challenge awaits as they gear up to face Liangmai FC in the final match on 14 October, where the new champions of the NSF Trophy will be determined.
The excitement kicked off with Red Scars FC making their mark by securing the first goal. The ‘goal scoring machine’ Yhunshalo Kemp was responsible for tucking in the opening goal. However, just before the close of the first half, Kekrusezo Kimho of United FC made a stunning play, equalizing the score at 1-1 in the 45th minute.
The second half witnessed Red Scars FC continuing to dominate, adding two more goals to their tally. Ghuphe Chishi and Asito Krose were the heroes of the moment, contributing to the score sheet in the 65th and 90+5 minutes, respectively. They had ample opportunities to increase their lead in the second half but squandered their chances, with Kemo and Sinlo Kent missing a golden opportunity.
The “Man of the Match” honor was awarded to Vikethozo of Red Scars FC, and the award was presented by L Dikho, MLA of the Government of Manipur and the match patron for the last semifinal clash.
