Tseminyu, 23 December (MTNews): The Rengma Selo Zi (RSZ) has expressed its deep appreciation to law enforcement agencies and the district administration for their swift and decisive action in apprehending the perpetrators responsible for the harassment and assault of three innocent youths on the night of December 16, 2024, in Dimapur.

In a statement, the RSZ commended the authorities for their timely response, which it said has restored a sense of justice and security within the community. “Such incidents, which threaten the peace and harmony of society, require firm action, and we commend the commitment demonstrated by the district administration and law enforcement in addressing this grave issue,” the organization stated.

The RSZ also extended gratitude to civil society organizations and individuals who stood in solidarity with the victims and the Rengma community during this challenging time. “Your unwavering support is a testament to the strength of unity within the Naga community,” the statement added.

While acknowledging the efforts taken to ensure justice, the RSZ reiterated its firm stance against any form of harassment or assault on innocent citizens. Issuing a stern warning, the organization emphasized that any future incidents of this nature would be met with resolute action. “The safety and dignity of our members and the Naga community as a whole remain our top priority,” the RSZ declared.

The organization also directed a strong demand at the NSCN (Akato) group, calling for the immediate dismissal of all seven individuals involved in the harassment and assault case from national service. The RSZ stated, “Such individuals have no place in any organization that represents the aspirations of the Naga people and our collective journey.”

Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding its members and the wider community, the RSZ urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that could disrupt societal harmony under any pretext.

“As we move forward, the RSZ assures the public of our continued efforts to work towards a safer and more inclusive society,” RSZ President Kegwayhun Tep and General Secretary Hiyalo Jemu said in the statement. “Together, with the cooperation of the administration, law enforcement agencies, and the community at large, we will strive to uphold justice and ensure that such unfortunate incidents do not recur,” the RSZ concluded.
