Mokokchung, 27 April (MTNews): Reacting on the physical assault met out to Yhuntilo Kent, former Info & Publicity Secretary of RSZ and a senior leader of RSZ on the night of 18 April in Tseminyu Town, the Rengma Selo Zi (RSZ) appealed to the concerned authority to immediately deliver justice to the victim.
Stating that the RSZ is deeply disturbed, the organization strongly condemned the act perpetrated by ‘few anti-societal elements’ which, according to the organization, have “snowballed into another chain of violence.”
“Such horrendous acts and the subsequent turn of events have outraged the sentiments of the entire Rengma populace and beyond. It may be mentioned that while Tseminyu district is dubbed as the most peaceful district in the state, such a diabolical act negates the very aspiration of the general populace and ought to be out rightly condemned by all right thinking citizens,” the RSZ stated.
The RSZ also expressed ‘dismay’ upon the delay in the law enforcement agency’s response and said that the delay is causing “fear in the minds of the public, while also rendering the victims helpless.” In this regard, the RSZ appealed to the concerned authority to immediately deliver justice to the victim. The RSZ also iterated that if such incidents arise in the future, the concerned authority must ensure that such issues are not blown out of proportion.
The Rengma Selo Zi further appealed to all its members and the concerned citizens to collectively strive towards lasting peace and stability, to bring about a life of dignity and the shared purpose of peaceful coexistence and respectful relationships.
“Let us continue to press forward in strengthened cooperation in days to come while also sparing no efforts to uproot those elements and practices which are against the social and economic progress of our people,” the RSZ added.
