Mokokchung, January 26 (MTNews): The 74th Indian Republic Day was celebrated at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung today where Pukhayi Sumi, Advisor, F & CS, LM & CP, Nagaland, unfurled the national flag and delivered the Republic Day speech.
Altogether 9 parade contingents including DEF Mokokchung, 2nd NAP, 13 NAP (IR), NHG, Pensioner (Defense Personnel), NCC MGHSS, NCC QMHSS, Bharat Scout and Guide and Band Platoon 2nd NAP Alichen took part in the march past with Mayangniken, Asst. Comdant, 2nd NAP as the Parade Commander and ABI Imlionen 2nd NAP as the 2nd in Command.
On the occasion of the celebration, entertainment extravaganza included presentation of cultural dances by Cultural Club Khensa Village and Naga Wadir Club Ungma and exhibition tug-of-war between Watsü Mungdang and Govt. Lady Officers, and between Uniformed Personnel and Non-Uniformed Personnel.
Later, the Advisor Pukhayi Sumi, inaugurated the Exhibition Stalls being set up by different departments.
Republic Day Celebrated in Tuli
The 74th Republic Day was held in Tuli ADC’s Office Complex with Shaying Sheu as Chief Guest unfurling the national flag and taking the Rashtriya salute from DEF Tuli while playing the national anthem and reading out the Republic Day message.
After the Republic Day program, prizes were distributed to the winners of the 8th Tuli Marathon Competition cum Cake Race and tug-of-war. Cleanliness maintenance and beautification of wards and shops respectively was attended by the officers and HoDs of Tuli Sub-division, GBs, ward members both from Tuli town and Tzudikong town and government employees.
