Noklak, September 27 (MTNews): State-level World Tourism Day 2022 under the theme, ‘Rethinking Tourism’ was organized at Tourist Resort, Noklak on 27 September 2022.

A DIPR report stated that Director of Tourism, Keduosie U Metha said World Tourism Day is a chance to celebrate the power of Tourism. She said, “We need new voices as well as new ideas if we are to transform our sector and build better tourism for all. The potential of tourism is enormous and we have a shared responsibility to ensure it is fully realized.”

 

She said the purpose of this day is to raise awareness of the role of tourism within the international community and to demonstrate how it affects social, cultural, political, and economic values worldwide.

 

Deputy Commissioner, Noklak Hiazu Meru highlighted the potential areas of tourism in the district and mentioned that the nascent tourism industry has a huge potential in the Noklak district if it can be properly tapped. He appreciated the Department of Tourism for celebrating World Tourism Day 2022 at Noklak by organizing various events.

 

SP Noklak, Dr. Pritpal Kaur IPS spoke on creating awareness of the various aspects relating to the tourism sector and the potential that Noklak district possesses while assuring full assistance from the Police department for the promotion of the same.

 

President, Khiamniungan Tribal Council, M. Thangou also spoke during the occasion. The keynote address was delivered by Wacy Kent, Under Secretary, Tourism.

 

During the occasion, Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam presented a folk song and a special number was presented by Mucham S. Tourism potential in Noklak district was presented by Nagaland Tourism Association.
An Inter School Painting Competition was also held earlier on 21st September 2022 at St. Paul School Noklak under the theme, ‘Eco-Tourism’ in the run up to the World Tourism Day celebration.

 

On 26th September 2022, a one-day workshop on Hospitality Management was held at DC’s Conference Hall, Noklak with Food Entrepreneur Alemjungla Jamir and President, NTA, David A Solo as resource persons.
Director, Tourism and DC Noklak Hiazu Meru jointly launched the Rural Tourism Competition website during the day.

 

Later, the team from the Tourism department and Noklak District Tourism Association headed to Chiphur village under Noklak district for cave exploration.
