Mokokchung, January 18 (MTNews): CM Rio, Deputy CM Patton, and BJP State President Temjen Imna Along were spotted in Assam House in New Delhi, hours after the poll date was announced by ECI, to meet Assam Chief Minister and North East Democratic Alliance convener Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Deputy CM Patton told reporters that he was there to discuss and finalize the seat sharing agreement between the NDPP and the BJP. According to reports, both parties will decide on the seat distribution.
Following the discussion, Sarma, who is known as the wizard of BJP in the North-East is anticipated to meet with Home Minister Amit Shah to obtain final consent. Outcome of the reported meeting on seat sharing between NDPP and BJP could not be ascertained till the filing of this news report.
There are, however, reports that the BJP is demanding for an increase in the 20-40 seat sharing arrangement. Ashoke Raj, a senior journalist who interviewed Deputy CM Patton today said that the BJP is asking for 30 seats from its alliance partner NDPP.
