Elaborating on the position of Congress Party in Nagaland, Chief Minister Rio acknowledged that Congress Party is there in Nagaland but is losing ground.
“Congress party is there in Nagaland. They just don’t have any MLAs for consecutive terms. They are losing ground,” he said.
Taking a jibe at Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Rio said, “He wanted to host the rally in the town…it will be embarrassing if it doesn’t work out. Therefore, he stopped at the entrance of big villages- and they welcomed him.”
“Nagas like to welcome people and talk to new faces and these celebrities, so they gave him a very good welcome,” continued Rio.
However, he added that the yatra did not serve as a “threat” to neither the NDPP nor the BJP. He said this during the Northeast Live Conclave held in Guwahati today.
