Mokokchung, 23 December (MTNews): The Rising Peoples Party (RPP) has cautioned the unauthorized and improper use of its name in Right to Information (RTI) applications.
“While the Party remains steadfast in its support of transparency, accountability, and the principles enshrined in the RTI Act, any fraudulent invocation of its name for such filings will be met with unequivocal legal action,” the party stated in a press release dated December 23, 2024.
The Party clarified that it disavows any connection to RTI applications submitted under its name without explicit prior authorization. Describing such acts as misrepresentation, the RPP stated that it reserves the right to initiate legal proceedings, including the filing of First Information Reports (FIRs), against individuals or entities found responsible for this misuse.
To prevent potential misuse and safeguard the integrity of the Party’s name, the RPP requested all government departments, public institutions, and other relevant authorities to verify the authenticity of any RTI applications bearing its name. The Party advised that such verification can be conducted via direct communication with its representatives through official phone or email channels.
The RPP highlighted that the misuse of the RTI framework not only tarnishes its reputation but also undermines the transparency mechanisms vital to good governance.
“This precaution is essential to maintain the sanctity of the RTI mechanism and prevent its abuse. The Party stands committed to the values and principles enshrined in the RTI Act, and we remain resolute in our dedication to upholding the integrity of this essential democratic tool,” it added.
