NSCN-U (Kitovi) holds 2nd phase of leadership induction

The second phase of the Oath-Taking Ceremony for the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-U) under the leadership of N Kitovi was conducted on September 28, 2024. The event saw the participation of 170 members, including Kilonsers, Deputy Kilonsers, and Tatars.

During the ceremony, Ato Kilonser N Kitovi Zhimomi stressed on the importance of the ‘Agreed Position’ and its impact on the future of the younger generation in Naga society. He reflected on the sacrifices made by thousands of patriots who joined the National Movement, particularly following the Plebiscite of May 16, 1951.

“It has been observed that the killings could not solve any purpose and the only way to solve the problems are through Political Negotiations alone, so GPRN/NSCN decided to declare Cease Fire with the Government of India (GOI) and was followed by Political Negotiations which ultimately led to the signing of the ‘Agreed Position’ on 17th November 2017 between GOI and WC, NNPGs and concluded on 31st October 2019,” Zhimomi stated.

RM Lotha, the President of NSCN- U (Kitovi), also addressed the gathering, urging all oath-takers to maintain a positive moral character and strong determination regarding the Naga political issue. He cautioned that if the GOI were to backtrack on previously negotiated terms, it could lead to a situation reminiscent of pre-ceasefire conditions. He emphasized that the GPRN/NSCN would not be held accountable should the hard-earned peace deteriorate and slips out of hand.

The oath taking ceremony was administered by Ebibemo Lotha, Speaker, National Tatar Hoho (NTH)  and followed by benediction from Nochotole Yosa, Chaplin (Tatar). The program was chaired by Achumthang Lotha, Chief Secretary, GPRN/NSCN. Invocation prayer was pronounced by Hokiye Awomi MRA Kilonser, followed by welcome speech from Hukavi Yepthomi, Kilonser Kilo Affairs. In his speech he welcomed all the newly inducted members with warm wishes. Party discipline was read out by Nzanthung Lotha, Secretary N.T.H and urged all the members to follow the rules diligently.
