The ongoing impasse involving the RMSA 2016 batch of teachers took a significant turn on Tuesday when representatives of the batch agreed to keep their agitation in abeyance following a high-level meeting at the office of the Commissioner & Secretary of School Education.

The meeting, held at 4:30 PM, brought together officials from the School Education Department, Samagra Shiksha, the All-Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA), and representatives of the RMSA 2016 batch. At the outset, the Commissioner & Secretary emphasized the urgent need to resolve the stalemate and find a logical solution to the teachers’ grievances.

ANSTA President expressed gratitude to the government for taking steps to address the concerns of the teachers at the earliest. Officials from Samagra Shiksha and the Directorate of School Education outlined the procedures involved in resolving the pending issues.

During the meeting, the RMSA 2016 batch presented their Charter of Demands, which the department accepted for study and consideration. Following deliberations, it was decided to constitute a High-Level Committee comprising representatives from the School Education Department, Directorate of School Education, Samagra Shiksha, Finance Department, and Justice and Law.

Representatives of ANSTA and RMSA 2016 will be co-opted into the committee, which will submit its report to the government.

Meanwhile, a Sub-Committee will be formed, headed by the Secretary of School Education, along with representatives from the Directorate of School Education, Samagra Shiksha, ANSTA, and RMSA 2016. This Sub-Committee will examine the charter of demands and prepare a preliminary report for submission to the High-Level Committee. The entire process is expected to be completed within six months.

According to the official meeting minutes issued by Kevileno Angami, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, the meeting ended with the assurance from the RMSA-2016 to keep their agitation in abeyance with immediate effect.
