“The road condition in Mokokchung needs to be improved,” stated Advisor for Water Resources, Tongpang Ozukum, on Thursday. Reflecting on the state of roads, Ozukum observed, “As of now, the town’s road,  – we are like 30-35 years back.”

The Advisor, who was formerly in-charge of the Roads & Bridges (R&B) department, spoke of his efforts to improve road connectivity. “I represent a few municipal wards, and I am doing my best to bring better road infrastructure. During my tenure in R&B, I brought in about 6-7 roads. Some are still in good shape, but many have deteriorated over the years,” he remarked. He noted that despite the initial improvements made in 2019, road conditions have worsened in the last five years.

Ozukum acknowledged that he has multiple responsibilities but stressed that road connectivity remains a top priority. “I am sure the other elected members who represent various wards will also do their best. With the installation of the municipal body, I believe things will start to improve, and we are always here to support them,” he added.

Ozukum made these remarks to MT on the sidelines of the inauguration of a new rest house in Phangsang village.

Addressing the prolonged problem of water scarcity in Mokokchung town, Ozukum said, “Regarding water some things need to be done. The elected representatives have discussed the water issue in Mokokchung town. It is a good reminder. We will discuss again.”
