Kohima, 13 December (MTNews): A robbery was attempted at the Nagaland State Cooperative Bank located in PR Hill Kohima this morning. Additional Superintendent of Police Kohima and PRO, T Relo Aye, informed Akashvani News Kohima, the incident was reported to the police at around 7:30 AM, wherein a tenant shopkeeper first detected smoke and contacted the fire tender.

He said, as per the investigation, the accused tried to break open the vault; however it was unsuccessful. He said one computer at the counter was completely burned down and CCTV was destroyed. Aye said the hard disk of the CCTV was however retrieved and currently examined. Aye said it is yet to be ascertained as to whether one or more people are involved in the attempted robbery.

He also maintained that the culprit must be familiar with the bank. The PRO further informed that an SIT team consisting of four members has been constituted led by the SDPO to investigate the case. Aye also appealed to the business community to install CCTV cameras in their shops as it helps in the investigation. It may be mentioned that the Bank had already lodged an FIR at south Police Station Kohima.
