A Rongpangzulu, a Lance Naik (L/NK) of ‘F’ Coy, 2nd NAP Battalion, currently posted in New Delhi, was conferred with the Jal Veer Award by the Delhi Jal Board in recognition of his exemplary performance as a guard commander. Rongpangzulu received the award during the 77th Indian Independence Day celebration. He hails from Molungyimsen village. According to family sources, he is reportedly the first Naga to be conferred with this award. Lance Naik (L/Nk) is the equivalent rank to lance corporal in the Indian army.
